In today’s diverse world, maintaining a child’s home language is not just important, it is essential. Home language serves as a valuable asset that educators, families, and communities should embrace, as it significantly contributes to children’s personal, social, emotional, and academic growth. This workshop will provide participants with practical strategies and a wealth of resources to effectively integrate and support children’s home languages in their learning environment.
This session will be presented in Spanish. There will be no English interpretation available.
Explore how intentional room arrangements can improve group supervision when featuring open sightlines, clearly defined zones, and an awareness of hazards. Discuss how to strategically position staff indoors and outdoors so that every child is consistently visible, heard, and quickly supported when needed. Review regulatory guidelines on the qualifications needed for staff to supervise groups alone. Discuss practical set-up and positioning strategies for critical moments such as transitions, naptime, and field trips. Leave with actionable ideas and team-friendly conversation starters designed to evaluate supervision practices and reinforce safety-awareness at your program.
